Caesarean birth story photography documents your planned C-section delivery in a respectful, discreet manner. Our approach captures the emotion and meaningful moments surrounding your baby’s birth—the anticipation, first glimpses of your baby, partners cutting the cord, first skin-to-skin contact, and those precious initial hours together. We focus on the beauty and emotion of your birth story while maintaining privacy and medical dignity.

Our standard Caesarean birth package includes:

Pre-birth consultation to discuss your preferences
3-4 hours of coverage (from pre-op preparation through recovery room)
Professional editing of approximately 80-100 images
Online gallery of images with digital download
Birth announcement digital on the day
$200 credit toward a newborn studio session
Premium packages include custom birth story albums and films.

As a busy Sydney studio with regularly scheduled newborn sessions, we’re unable to accommodate the unpredictable timing of natural births, which could require us to be on-call 24/7 for weeks. Planned Caesarean sections allow us to reliably schedule your birth story coverage without risking cancellations of other clients’ sessions. This specialisation allows us to provide exceptional C-section documentation while maintaining our commitment to all studio clients.

Yes! We offer birth films as either an add-on to photography or as a main feature. Our birth films are tastefully edited 2 to 4 minute cinematic documentaries set to licensed music that tell the emotional story of your baby’s arrival. All films include discreet audio recording of key moments like your first words to your baby and partners’ reactions.

Sarah has worked at Mater Maternity & North Shore Private with over 20 different Obstetricians and hundreds of births. She is recommended by many OBGYNs because of her knowledge and understanding in the operating room.

Most Sydney private hospitals allow birth photography during Caesarean sections with proper authorisation. We recommend discussing this with your medical team during your 28-week appointment, and we’re happy to address any concerns they might have directly.

We use professional-grade mirrorless cameras that operate silently without disrupting the medical environment. For birth films, we use compact video equipment with natural lighting techniques.

We currently have established relationships with Mater Hospital and North Shore Private for Caesarean birth photography. For other Sydney hospitals, we can assist with the approval process but recommend booking early to ensure sufficient time to secure permissions.

We adhere to all hospital protocols, including COVID-testing if required, wearing appropriate PPE provided by the hospital, and maintaining proper distancing except when necessary for image capture.

Sarah is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and receives annual influenza vaccines. We use hospital-grade sanitisers on all equipment before entering medical spaces.

We focus on the emotional journey while respecting medical privacy. Typically, we capture:

Pre-surgery preparations and moments with your partner
The anticipation and environment (without showing surgical procedures)
Your facial expressions and your partner’s reactions
Baby’s first appearance and announcement of gender (if not known)
First meeting between baby and parents
Baby’s details and features
Partner cutting cord, first measurements, and hospital tags
Initial bonding in the recovery room
We avoid capturing medical interventions, surgical procedures, or any compromising images.

Your medical care always takes precedence. If complications arise, we follow medical staff directions immediately, which may include temporarily stepping out. We’re experienced in working around unexpected situations while remaining unobtrusive. After the fact, we edit with sensitivity, focusing only on the positive aspects of your birth story.

We recommend booking as soon as you know your Caesarean is planned, ideally by 20-24 weeks of pregnancy. This allows sufficient time to secure hospital permissions, meet with your medical team, and plan your coverage. We accept a limited number of birth stories each month to ensure availability.

You will receive preview images within the day for birth announcements. Your complete photo gallery will be delivered within 2-3 weeks. Birth films require additional editing time and are typically delivered within 3-4 weeks. Rush processing is available for an additional fee.

We understand that medical situations can change. We maintain flexibility around your scheduled date and ask that you communicate any changes as soon as possible. If your new date conflicts with another commitment, we’ll work to adjust our schedule or, in rare cases when that’s not possible, provide a second photographer from our team with whom you’ll have a chance to meet beforehand.

Birth Photography: Documents the momentous occasion of your baby’s birth, capturing those once-in-a-lifetime first moments and emotions.
Fresh 48: Captures the details of those first days—tiny features, hospital bracelets, siblings meeting baby, and the beginning of your parenting journey.
